Dear Cleveland,

For a city with so many amazing things contained within it, you are far from perfect. As long as teenagers are dying from opioid addictions, you are not perfect; these drugs need to be swept off streets by any means necessary.

As long as I can buy a gun at 18 years old from Walmart with only an I.D, you are not perfect; nobody needs a weapon, especially not ones designed to kill people.

As long as inner-city test scores are among the lowest in the nation, you are not perfect; education must be a priority as the kids of today will not become leaders of tomorrow without a solid base of reading and mathematical literacy, and the opportunity to do more.

As long as racial profiling by the police is still commonplace, you are not perfect; make any background and cultural literacy tests you must to ensure that police officer treats me and my friends just like anyone else.

You are far from perfect, but we are all willing to change, so change we must.

Sincerely,

Jackson
